Abstract
The successful rate of Cornea Transplantation is the highest among after organ transplantation. Many articles reported that most of patients after Cornea Transplantation recovered their vision. But in fact, it is different from subjective preception
about the recovery of vision in Cornea Transplantation recipients. Also, the suture line of cornea transplantation is ecovered slowly and suture is removed when it passed 1 year after operation because cornea is avascular organ. So, it is
necessary that cornea transplantation recipients have the continous management to preventive complication.
The purpose of this study was presented basic data for nursing management of the cornea transplantation patients after discharge. The research subjects were 52. the patients who received cornea transplantation from 1993 Jan. to 1996 Aug. at 5 general hospitals in Pusan. Though the medical records and telephone interview the data was gathered.
The results were as follows: 57.5% of the cornea transplantation patients complained the discomfort(ex ; foreign body sensation, redness of eyes, and turbidity, etc) and 17.5% had visual loss after opreation, 32.5% shoed no changed visual condition between pre-op. and post-op. In the cases of visual loss, they had negative view about cornea transplantation and two patients of them had the artifical eyes becouse of blindness. On the other hand, in the cases of patients who had no changed vision, they had two kinds of view : positive(they hope that their vision will improve due to re-operation and following care) or negative(they complained the physical discomfort and financial trouble due to operation)
